Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder Impingement

Shoulder impingement occurs when the rotator cuff, a group of muscles supporting the shoulder, becomes pinched between the shoulder blade and the upper arm bone. This can cause pain and limit shoulder movement.

Common symptoms of shoulder impingement include:
  • Shoulder pain, often in the front but may radiate to the side of the arm.
  • Pain that worsens with overhead movements, reaching behind the back, or lying on the affected side.
  • Stiffness, swelling, or redness.
  • Clicking or popping sounds in the shoulder.
